On all of the ID cards there is a QR code, what is this used for?

Scanning by connected devices.
Examples:
- Teachers look up kids by scanning the kid’s ID card using their phone, then assign hall passes / detentions / referrals…. Call parents.. etc
- Kids scan their badge at the school entrance for tardy entry / early exit – for school attendance
- At ticketed events such as a dance, door staff scan ID to see if kids have tickets to the dance
